We all play a role in keeping our planet healthy, clean, and beautiful…even insects. Yes, it’s true — we need insects and they need us. Insect populations around us are continuing to decline, but they play an incredibly important role on the earth. Without them, we would be in trouble.

Select a corner of your yard or a pot or two where this life-giving project will take place. Head over to Amelia’s and pick out bee- and butterfly-friendly plants. Insects like to hang out with plants they’ve known for thousands of years, so Florida-native plants are a good choice, but other options - sizes, colors, fragrances, and growth habits - are endless. We are always ready to point you in the right direction to help you create a little extra beauty in your yard as well as a pollinator habitat.
Then, just take care of your new plants and simply appreciate new wildflowers and life around your yard. Did you know that many weeds are visited by pollinators? Weeds serve a purpose after all. Stand or sit still; you may just see a lot of buzzing action going on around your weeds. These small steps are very easy, but make an impact in caring for our insects + our world!
Our plants are not treated with systemic pesticides that can harm bees & butterflies. Sometimes the butterfly plants are covered with caterpillars!
